Fitting Right In to Life
Today Larry and I were driving to an appointment and while we were driving, I was just looking around admiring Life as we were passing by. I've noticed that since I've been writing this blog, and especially since I went through my big shift I have been being more aware of life around me. Instead of having much of my attention on buildings and shops and cars as we drive down the street, I'm seeing trees and animals and clouds and other elements of life, both more life and more detail about the life-forms I am aware of.
And so, while we were driving around, I was noticing the vivid colors of the autumn leaves in contrast to the grey skies. Right now where we live the branches of the apple trees are almost bare with brilliant bronze leaves that stand out one-by-one. Trees of other species that still had more leaves seemed on fire with their colors. Persimmon trees had no leaves at all, but their branches were full of their orange fruits, hanging like Christmas ornaments.
As we drove down the streets i was giving Larry running commentary on how beautiful all the trees looked to me. "Life is so beautiful," I said. And then, without thinking, I said, "I am part of Life."
And Larry said, "Then you fit right in."
Intellectually I have known I am part of Life for long time. But when Larry said, "You fit right in," something shifted. My knowing became experiential. Since I am part of Life, I am as beautiful as the trees and know how to live because at the deepest level I have all the information about how to live as every other species has, I just need to express it.
I'm feeling part of the whole today in a way I wasn't feeling before. Like I'm now dancing in a big circle dance, or playing an instrument in a symphony orchestra. I'm aware of myself as an element of the Whole.
