Planting Life

Debra Redalia

Last Saturday Larry and I spent the afternoon planting seedlings. Our garden this year is more that twice the size it was last year. The photo is only less than a quarter of the entire garden.

This activity was so emotionally uplifting for me, considering the state of the world today, I had to write a poem.

In a world of death
We are planting life.

Seedling to soil
Tonight it will rain

Watching day by day
As plants grow

Our hands tending them
Loving them

The sun shines
The moon beams

Until one day
The life we plant today
Lettuce and tomatoes (13 varieties!)
Basil, peppermint, spearmint and cilantro
Stevia and lavender
Edible pansies and nasturtiums
Strawberries and raspberries
Broccoli and beets
Potatoes and asparagus
Beans and amaranth.

On our plates
In our mouths
Filling our tummies
Nourishing our bodies
Bringing us delight.s

Even as the industrial world crumbles
The sun still rises
The rain still comes
The soil still has earthworms
And we plant life.

uite simply, this blog is about orienting ourselves and our lives to life, instead of orienting ourselves and our lives to industrial consumerism. Here we are sharing our own journey. You come too.

lifepartners + soulmates

For more than 30 years we have been delving into the nature and activities of life together. Indeed, this has been and continues to be the very reason we are together. We each are different from the norm, but we are different in the same way, so we have been able to think outside of the ordinary together and find the extraordinary workings of life.

Together they have helped each other discover the characteristics of spirit and put them into practice in daily life. Since 2005, Debra and Larry have been writing Signs of Spirit stories—first person accounts of their true life adventures as spiritual belings. The are co-founders of Spirits Bright and The Signs of Spirit Project.
