How to Live on Earth

Debra Redalia

No astronaut goes into space with his fingers crossed. That’s not how we deal with risk.

What I learned from twenty-one years as an astronaut is the more you know the less you fear.

Study every system on a space ship and then boil it down into what I call a 1-pager.

You’ve got to be able to solve your problems in one breath.

When I first heard these words I thought, “Yes! This is how we should approach living on Earth.”

In a very real sense, Earth is a space ship. In our culture, we are hardly aware of the Earth as we go about our industrial lives, but beneath our feet, the Earth is a structure of systems that make life run just as a space ship is a set of systems that provide everything astronauts need to live as they journey through space.

For more than 30 years Larry and I have been studying the systems of Life and are working on presenting them in simple ways that everyone can understand and use.

We’ve been applying the laws of our living earth in our own lives and they are the foundation of this website.

More specifics on this coming very soon...

For more than 30 years we have been delving into the nature and activities of life together. Indeed, this has been and continues to be the very reason we are together. With delight, we research, explore, observe, and even wake each other up in the middle of the night to discuss how life functions and how we can function as life—even while living in the modern world. We each are different from the norm, but we are different in the same way, so we have been able to think outside of the ordinary together and find the extraordinary workings of life.
