Securing Our Health as The Covid-19 Crisis Continues
At the beginning of this year, Larry said, “Oh, it’s 2020—it must be the year of seeing clearly with 20/20 vision.”
I think he was exactly right. Though this year has been one crisis after another, each crisis is bringing to view something we need to learn on the level of how we live together as a society, and what we need to do to sustain our individual lives within the context of our communities, our government, and our ecosystems.
The past couple of weeks has been even more intense than the past few months. Covid-19 pandemic numbers are exploding all over the USA while at the same time we are finding out more about corruption in our government and wondering how we are going to open our economy and allow our children to go back to school.
Where do we start?
Of all the problems that need addressing, it is clear to us that health is #1. So that is what we are going to address today. We’ll share with you our thoughts on other issues in the coming weeks.
What’s Going On With Covid-19 Where You Live?
Obviously the danger for each of us is different, depending on where we live.
You need to know where to get information on what is happening in your community, your county, and your state. You might get this from local news or a website. We have a great California website where we can look up all the statistics county-by-county and we also have a Sonoma County covid-19 website. You probably have these resources too where you live.
Here in Sonoma county things have been relatively quiet on the covid-19 front since the beginning of the pandemic, but suddenly in the last two weeks there has been a change.
Last week the “last 14 days” death count here in Sonoma county was seven. Prior to that the deaths from Covid-19 were one per month. Suddenly it’s seven deaths in fourteen days. This week now (I just checked) it is nine deaths in fourteen days. Two deaths in the last 24 hours.
We can see here that less than 1% of those who get covid-19 in our county die from it, but we can also see that the number of new cases is really increasing.
Yesterday Sonoma county was put on the state watch list because of the number of new cases, which means that local openings of things like eating in restaurants are now again closed for at least the next three weeks.
I know some areas are much worse than this, so wherever you are, do the appropriate actions to protect yourself from exposure, first and foremost.
For us, that means wearing masks when we go places where there are other people, whether indoors or out. And not going to any large gatherings. Not that there are many to go to, but basically we do our shopping and that’s about it.
Support Your Immune System to Create Body Resilience
I’ve already written a post with details about supporting your immune system at How to Support Your Immune System.
I know the mainstream media is saying the pandemic won’t be over until we have drugs and vaccines, but that’s just industrial viewpoint. In fact, in my county 99% of those who get covid-19 recover, so it is possible to survive the virus if your body is in good working order.
Take a look at my post on how to support your immune system and also search for this online as well. Many alternative health care practitioners of all sorts are posting ways to support your immune system.
By supporting your immune system, your body can be powerhouse of covid-19 resistance that will reject the virus if exposed and and will recover quickly if infected.
Improve Your Underlying Conditions
On June 23, 2020, Dr. Anthony Fauci testified on Capitol Hill regarding the Trump administration's response to COVID-19.
...consequences such as hospitalization, intubations, complications and death relate strongly to underlying comorbid conditions such as
- hypertension [high blood pressure]
- chronic lung disease and
- kidney disease.”
The best defense against these underlying conditions is to eat wholefoods.
If your body has one of these conditions, eating wholefoods could just possibly save your life if your body becomes infected with the covid-19 virus.
Have a Positive Attitude
If there is one thing Larry and I have learned in our life together it is that each of us are continuously creating our lives, for better or for worse.
We’ve found that we can follow along with the “default” of listening to the news and advertising and other mainstream communications that tell us what to think and feel and buy, or we can determine our lives for ourselves.
And that includes the health of our bodies.
We’re not “ignoring” the virus. We acknowledge it’s there and take the physical precautions.
But at the same time, we also hold the thought that our bodies are healthy.
We are constantly expecting and creating health, and as we do this, we are getting healthier and healthier.
Covid-19 may be in the world, but it doesn’t have to be in our world.
By our nature as human beings, each one of us has a will to live and a natural inclination to survive. Both are very powerful and can be drawn upon at any time to maintain and improve our health.
We Can Get Through This
There are two ways to approach life:
- to accept things as they are and adapt yourself to events around you
- to know your own self and be as you wish, regardless of conditions in your surrounding.
We tend to know ourselves and create our lives as we wish them to be.
Just because the USA is accepting a covid-19 pandemic doesn’t mean we ourselves must accept it.
Larry and I are doing fine. Inconvenienced, yes, but it’s not stopping our lives.
We just did the covid-19 test a couple of weeks ago. No covid-19 here.
